EPDM rubber roofing has become the go-to flat roofing solution for UK homeowners and businesses. It's built to handle everything the British weather throws at it – rain, frost, UV and wind – with minimal upkeep required over its working life. As Permaroof-trained installers using Firestone systems, we're qualified to offer a level of warranty protection that most local roofers simply can't match.

If your garage, extension, garden room or outbuilding is still covered in felt, you’re likely dealing with a material that will need replacing every 10–15 years. Cracking, bubbling and seam failures are common complaints with older felt systems – and every replacement means more disruption and more expense.
EPDM changes that equation entirely. Installed as a single continuous sheet with far fewer joints, it resists UV degradation, sheds water reliably and holds its elasticity through decades of freeze-thaw cycles – everything the North West climate demands of a flat roof. And because our installers are trained and approved by Permaroof, the UK’s main Firestone distributor, we can back every installation with a 25-year manufacturer’s membrane warranty. That’s a level of protection that’s only available through a Permaroof-approved installer.
Weather Shield North West has been protecting homes and commercial properties across Bolton and Greater Manchester since 2019. We know how the region’s weather behaves, and we specify and install every Firestone EPDM system to handle it properly.
Our installers are trained through Permaroof, ensuring every job meets the standard required to qualify for the 25-year membrane warranty. Perfect from start to finish! Salesman Darrell was very personable, not pushy at all and very thorough. He gave us a great price. The surveyor turned up on time and was very friendly. The lady in the office arranged the time and date for the work to be done and she was really friendly too. The two brothers removed the existing garage roof and installed the new one. They were superb. Utterly professional, great sense of humour and explained every step. They left the site in an immaculate condition and contacted the recycling company to remove the old roof who arrived right on time. Cannot stress how impressed we are with every person from this company who we came in contact with. Fab ambassadors, all of them Thank you!

Absolutely chuffed with the work carried out on our home! We had a skylight installed in our orangery and new double-glazed windows fitted throughout. The whole process has been so efficient, quick and professional. The lads who carried out the work were brilliant - so friendly, respectful and tidy, leaving everything neat and clean as they went. Communication from start to finish has also been fantastic. I’m absolutely chuffed with the finished result. It has completely transformed our home, making such a difference to the space, warmth and overall feel.

Thinking about replacing your flat roof with EPDM? Here are the answers to the questions we hear most from homeowners across Bolton and Greater Manchester.
A properly installed EPDM roof typically lasts 25 to 50 years. Longevity depends on membrane thickness, installation quality and routine maintenance.
Yes. EPDM remains flexible between -40°C and 150°C, making it well-suited to the UK's freeze-thaw cycles, heavy rain and variable temperatures.
EPDM outlasts felt by decades and costs less than fibreglass. It offers an excellent balance of durability, weather resistance and long-term value for most flat roofs.
Very little. An annual inspection to check for debris or minor surface damage is usually sufficient to keep the system watertight and performing correctly.
In some cases, yes – if the underlying deck is structurally sound and dry. A survey is always needed first to confirm the deck condition before any overlay is considered.
Based in Bolton, we carry out installations across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, including Bury, Wigan, Stockport, Preston, Rochdale, Oldham, Salford, Chorley and Blackburn. As a FENSA-registered installer, every window and door we fit is fully certified, compliant and insurance-backed.
